Assurance of Salvation

Lesson One

MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 5:11-12 “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

1. According to 1 John 5:11-12, where is eternal life found?
_______________________________________________________________________
2. Who has eternal life?_______________________________________________
3. Who does not have eternal life?_____________________________________
On the basis of this “testimony” God’s Word says you can be fully assured that you have eternal life through faith in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. The enemy, Satan, will try to cast doubt on your salvation. Your response to this attack should be God’s Word on the subject, not your feelings! Feelings will change, but God’s Word will never change.
4. John 20:31 Why did the Apostle John write this book?

_______________________________________________________________________
12. 2 Corinthians 5:17. What takes place when you become a Christian?
_______________________________________________________________________
13. Which of the following have you experienced since you became a Christian?
____Inner Peace __New Awareness of Sin ____Victory over sin ____New love for God ____Desire to read the Bible
____Attitude changes ____Sense of Forgiveness ____New concern for others

Note: If you have not experienced any of the above changes, you may not have received Christ into your life yet. There is a difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus. Have you experienced an awareness of your own sinfulness yet? (Read 1 John 1:8,10). This awareness should lead you to Christ, asking His forgiveness and inviting Him to come into your life. If you have not done this, please take time right now to pray this simple prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I believe You died on the cross to pay for my sins. I believe you arose from the dead and are alive. I ask You to forgive me of my sins and wash me clean. Lord Jesus, I now give you control of my life. Take my life and make of it what you want. Thank You for giving me the gift of eternal life.”
